Ekushey Book Fair 2026: A Meeting Point for Writers, Readers, and Dreams

Ekushey Book Fair 2026: A Meeting Point for Writers, Readers, and Dreams

The  Ekushey Book Fair is one of the most significant cultural events in Bangladesh. Every year, during the month of February and early March, thousands of readers, writers, and publishers gather in Dhaka to celebrate Bengali language, literature, and creativity.

More than just a book market, the fair represents the spirit of knowledge, cultural identity, and intellectual exchange. It is inspired by the historic Language Movement and continues to promote reading habits and literary culture across the country.

On 7 March 2026, I had the opportunity to visit the  Ekushey Book Fair and experience this vibrant environment filled with books, ideas, and passionate readers.

A Special Meeting at the Book Fair

One of the most enjoyable parts of visiting a book fair is meeting authors, discussing literature, and discovering new books.

During my visit, I met my friend and young author Saima Sadia, who recently published her book titled “Amar Chuye Dekha Jannat.”

We spent some time talking about books, writing, and the creative journey of authors. It was inspiring to see how passionate young writers are contributing to Bengali literature.

I also purchased a copy of her book during the visit.

An Inspiring Autograph

When I collected the book, she kindly wrote a short autograph message for me inside the book.

Her message said:

“Dear Joyanta,
Achieve success in life.
My prayers are with you.
— Saima”

Although it is a short message, it carries a powerful inspiration. Receiving such words from an author makes the moment memorable and meaningful.

These small moments often become lasting motivations in our personal and professional journeys.

The Book Fair Is More Than Just Buying Books

Many people think that a book fair is only about purchasing books. In reality, it is much more than that.

The book fair creates a unique platform where:

  • Readers discover new authors and ideas

  • Writers connect directly with their audience

  • New writers get opportunities to meet publishers

  • Literature lovers gather to share thoughts and inspiration

This environment encourages creativity, discussion, and knowledge sharing.

Capturing Memorable Moments

During my visit to the fair, I also had the opportunity to talk with a few writers and capture some memorable moments through photographs.

These interactions made the experience even more meaningful. Conversations with writers always provide insight into their thoughts, struggles, and inspirations behind their work.

Such experiences motivate me to stay connected with literature, learning, and creative communities.

A Message for Readers and Aspiring Writers

In Bangladesh, many young people love writing but often do not know how to publish their work.

If you are someone who:

  • Loves reading books

  • Wants to visit the book fair

  • Is interested in writing

  • Dreams of publishing your own book

Feel free to connect with me.

I would be happy to guide you and help connect you with writers, readers, and publishing opportunities whenever possible.

Final Thoughts

The  Ekushey Book Fair is not just an event—it is a celebration of language, literature, and intellectual freedom.

It reminds us that books have the power to inspire minds, shape ideas, and bring people together.

My visit to the fair this year was truly memorable, and I look forward to continuing to explore and support the vibrant literary community of Bangladesh.
